Hybrid education system at WULS-SGGW

Please see the information on the organization of the 2020/2021 winter semester. Education at WULS-SGGW in the winter semester of 2020/2021.

In the winter semester of the academic year 2020/2021, classes at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (WULS-SGGW) for all educational forms and levels will be carried out as hybrid learning, i.e. both through direct contact with the teachers and the use of distance learning methods and techniques.

The introduction of a hybrid learning at WULS-SGGW is the result of the persistent epidemic threat and the applicable sanitary regime. The safety of the academic community is our priority.

In order to ensure the highest safety standards, all lectures for the students of the 1st and 2nd cycle will be carried out remotely, as well as those classes, the implementation of which does require a direct meeting of lecturers and students nor access to specialized laboratories. This rule applies to both full-time and part-time studies. Remote classes will be conducted using two basic IT tools, i.e. the Moodle platform with the BigBlueButton tool and the MS TEAMS application.

Other classes, including labs and seminars, will be conducted in a mixed mode (theoretical part on-line, and the practical part at the university's premises), or only at the university (if required by the specificity of the classes), in compliance with the safety rules and sanitary regime.

First-year students (first semester of the the first cycle), all laboratory, clinical and practical classes will be carried out in a traditional way. Direct meetings with deans and training sessions will be organized for recently admitted students. During these meetings information will be presented on the principles of studying, students' rights and obligations, organizational matters, and the opportunities for development and for activities  offered to students by WULS-SGGW. This will enable new students to get to know the environment and integrate with the academic community.

For students of the last semester (semester 7 of first-cycle studies and semester 3 of second-cycle studies), non-lecture classes (laboratories, tutorials, etc.) will be held in the traditional way. This should make it easier for students to prepare their diploma theses and to take the diploma exams on time, and to have access to a library and specialized laboratories.

Physical education classes and foreign language courses will be conducted remotely, excluding classes for students of the 1st semester of first-cycle studies. Registration will be conducted remotely.

Classes in postgraduate studies and other forms of education may be conducted in a traditional manner. If the specific nature of the classes or the size of the groups make it impossible to carry them out in the traditional mode, the remote mode is acceptable.

Student service in the dean's offices and the Student Affairs Office is carried out in compliance with the sanitary regime. It is recommended to contact us by e-mail in the first place.

Detailed timetables for individual years and fields of study will be published on the websites of the faculties by September 18, 2020.

The commencement of classes in full-time studies in the academic year 2020/2021 is planned for October 1. Classes for part-time studies will be carried out in accordance with the detailed schedules established by the Deans.

The official inauguration of the academic year will take place on September 30, 2020 at 10.00. Due to epidemic reasons, we invite you to watch the broadcast that will be held on the YouTube platform of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences.

The above assumptions may change due to the current decisions of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and current sanitary recommendations.
