Incentive systems at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences

The Warsaw Univesity of Life Sciences has incentive systems which increase the involvement of the WULS-SGGW employees in research and development activities.

Incentive remuneration system for WULS-SGGW faculty

In 2017, by the decision of The Rector of the WULS-SGGW, Professor Wiesław Bielawski, an incentive system of remuneration for faculty was introduced at the University. Its goal is to financially support and distinguish faculty whose achievements significantly affect the development of WULS-SGGW and who contribute to the increase of its prestige on the national and international forum.
The system operates by periodically increasing the basic salary of WULS-SGGW faculty  for the next 12 months.

The funds transferred to the functioning of the incentive system were allocated from the subsidy granted to the University by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, based on the principles of financial management of the Warsaw University of Life Sciences.

The number of employees to whom the Rector granted the temporary increase in fixed remuneration has been increasing and amounted respectively to: in 2017 – 21 people2018 - 34, 2019 - 35, 2020 - 41.

System of Financial Support for Researchers and Research Teams

By the decision of the WULS-SGGW, the System of Financial Support for Researchers and Research Teams (SFSRRT) was introduced in 2019. Its main goal is to encourage researchers to become more active in applying for grants, in particular those financed under international research programs.

The system provides ongoing financing of research and development activities to teams that have prepared and submitted a project proposal in an external open competition, and received positive assessment, but were not qualified for funding due to the exhaustion of available funds. The support provided consists of a one-off transfer of funds at the sole disposal of the project manager or research task manager. The funds allocated to the system come from revenues of the University in the amount determined annually by the Rector of WULS-SGGW.

In 2019, 11 researchers received the financial support to develop their research. The total value of funds allocated to SFSRRT was PLN 1 million.

In 2020, the SGGW Rector granted financial support to 14 people for a total amount of PLN 1.065 million.
