PERSONS WHO ARE NOT POLISH NATIONALS, HEREINAFTER REFFERED TO AS "NON-NATIONALS", MAY PURSUE DEGREE LEVEL EDUCATION ON FOLLOWING RULES:

Dear Candidate, before you start recruiting, check which rule apply to you!


THE FOLLOWING PERSONS ARE ELIGIBLE TO PURSUE STUDIES IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE RULES APPLICABLE TO POLISH NATIONALS:

1) non-nationals who have been granted a permanent residence permit.

2) non-nationals who hold refugee status as granted within the Republic of Poland,

3) non-nationals who have been granted temporary protection in the territory of the Republic of Poland,

4) migrant workers who are nationals of a Member State of the European Union or a member state of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – a party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or the Swiss Confederation - and the members of their families if residing in the territory of the Republic of Poland,

5) non-nationals who in the territory of the Republic of Poland have been granted a long-term resident's EU residence permit,

6) non-nationals who in the territory of the Republic of Poland have been granted a temporary residence permit pursuant to the circumstances referred to in Article 127, Article 159 section 1 or Article 186 section 1 point 3 or 4 of the Act of 12 December 2013 on Foreigners (Journal of Laws of 2017, item 2206, with further amendments ), the decisions on the card granted must be presented in order to check the legal basis,

7) non-nationals who have been granted subsidiary protection in the territory of the Republic of Poland;

8) nationals of a Member State of the European Union or a member state of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – a party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or the Swiss Confederation -  and members of their families, having the right of permanent residence.

9) Nationals of the Member States of the European Union, of the Swiss Confederation, or the member states of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area - and members of their families who have funds necessary to cover their subsistence costs during a period of study, with no entitlement to a maintenance grant, special grant for disabled persons and assistance grants, or in compliance  with the rules not applicable to Polish Nationals,

10) The holders of a valid Polish Charter card (Karta Polaka), or in compliance with the rules not applicable to Polish Nationals.

CONDITIONS FOR STUDYING:

Full-time studies are free of tuition fee.

Part-time studies are payable. Non-nationals pay tuition fees under the same conditions and in the same amount as citizens of the Republic of Poland.

After the admission to study, non-nationals acquire entitlement to apply for State-budget financial support of the following types:
1) maintenance grant,
2) special grant for disabled persons,
3) scholarship as an outstanding student, awarded by a rector,
4) scholarship for academic achievement awarded by the minister,
5) assistance grants.

Students simultaneously following degree programmes in more than onevfield of study may be awarded maintenance grants, special grants for disabled persons, assistance grants, the rector’s grant for an outstanding student and the minister’s grant for academic achievement in only one field of study, as selected by the student.


WITH THE RULES NOT APPLICABLE TO POLISH NATIONALS CAN APPLY THE FOLLOWING NON-NATIONALS:

  • Non-nationals outside of the Member States of the European Union, of the Swiss Confederation, or the member states of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, who do not have the right to study on the rules applicable to Polish citizens,
  • Nationals of the Member States of the European Union, of the Swiss Confederation, or the member states of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, who have funds necessary to cover their subsistence costs during a period of study, who resign from applying for admission to studies on the conditions applicable to Polish citizens,
  • The holders of a valid Polish Charter card (Karta Polaka), who resign from applying for admission to studies on the conditions applicable to Polish citizens.

CONDITIONS FOR STUDYING:

  • Both full-time and part-time studies are payable.
  • Non-nationals who are directed to study by the decision of the minister competent for higher education are studying under the conditions specified in the decision of the minister (Candidates should present a referral issued by an organizational unit authorized by the minister to direct foreigners to study).
  • Non-nationals undertaking studies on the basis of an agreement concluded with a foreign partner university by SGGW shall study at the conditions specified in the agreement.

After admission to study, foreigners do not have the right to apply for scholarships listed in art. 173 par. 1 of the Act of 27 July 2005 Law on Higher Education (Journal of Laws of 2017, item 2183, as amended), ie maintenance grant, special grant for disabled persons, scholarship as an outstanding student, awarded by a rector, scholarship for academic achievement awarded by the minister, assistance grants. Foreigners with a Schengen visa or a national visa issued for the purpose of performing work on the territory of Poland do not have the right to apply for a maintenance grant, a special grant for disabled persons and assistance grants.
